You may begin pregnancy knowing exactly how you hope to feed, then find yourself sorting through conflicting advice, unexpected challenges and an alarming number of products appearing in your online searches.

The Fourth Trimester Feeding Partnership gives you one trusted person who already knows you, your baby and the full story.

We’ll begin before your baby arrives and continue through the first three months. You’ll have time to prepare, hands-on help at home, ongoing contact between appointments and priority access when feeding needs closer attention.

Breastfeeding, expressing, bottle feeding, combination feeding or something you hadn’t planned for. Your support will change as your needs and goals change.

Your antenatal appointment

We’ll talk through your feeding goals, previous experiences, medical and birth considerations, and the support you may need once your baby arrives.

You’ll learn what effective feeding can look like, what is normal in the early days and when to ask for help. We can also cover antenatal hand expressing, pumping, bottles, formula or combination feeding if they may form part of your plan.

This gives us a starting point while leaving room for the plan to change once your baby is here.

Your postnatal support

Your three postnatal visits can be used when they will make the most difference during the first three months.

If you need support soon after birth, one of these visits may take place while you and your baby are still in hospital, subject to hospital access and visiting requirements. The remaining visits can take place in your home once you are discharged.

That might mean early support with positioning, attachment, comfort, milk transfer or weight concerns. It could also involve expressing, supplementation, pump fitting, bottle learning or finding a feeding plan that feels manageable for your family.

Your Flow Lounge appointment can be used for a feeding review, flange fitting, pump trial, bottle-learning support or planning your next stage a couple of months into your journey.

Appointments are not locked into a rigid schedule. We’ll decide together when each one will be most useful.

Support between appointments

Questions rarely wait politely for your next appointment.

You can send questions and updates through your private messaging channel throughout the partnership. Messages are reviewed during business hours, with a response within one business day.

If something needs a full feeding assessment rather than a message, partnership families receive priority access to reserved appointments.

Messaging support does not replace urgent medical care. Any immediate concerns about the health of a parent or baby should be directed to your midwife, GP, Healthline, after-hours service or emergency care.

Products and pump hire

You won’t be left guessing which flange, nipple shield, valve or bottle teat to buy.

Essential feeding products identified during your care are included up to a total retail value of $150. This may include correctly fitted flanges, inserts, nipple shields, valves or bottle teats.

Larger items, personal breast pumps, wearable collection cups and replacements required through loss or damage are not included.

One Flow & Flourish hire pump may be used for up to three months when needed and subject to availability. Your new personal accessory kit is yours to keep.

Investment

The Fourth Trimester Feeding Partnership is $995.

Payment is split into three instalments:

• $335 when you book antenatally
• $330 when you have your first postnatal visit
• $330 in your baby’s second month

Your place is confirmed once the first payment has been received.

Only three new families are accepted into the partnership each month, leaving enough space for responsive, individual support.

Travel area

Home visits within Manawatū are included. An additional travel charge may apply outside the usual service area and will be discussed before you book.
